Fire alarm systems in Bergen

We design, install, inspect and maintain fire alarm systems in housing associations, commercial buildings, schools and public buildings – from Os and Bjørnafjorden to Bergen, Askøy and Øygarden.

What we do

One company for the whole fire alarm system

A fire alarm system must detect fire early, warn everyone in the building and trigger the functions that must work: door holders release, ventilation stops, lifts return to the exit floor, and the alarm goes on to a security company or the fire service’s 110 centre. That requires correct design, correct installation and follow-up every year.

We handle the whole process, whether the system is new or twenty years old. If you have an older system with many false alarms, we find the cause and propose a repair or an upgrade before you replace everything.

  • Design and system description for new buildings and refurbishment
  • Installation, programming and commissioning
  • Statutory annual inspection with report
  • Service, fault finding and correction of deviations
  • Extension and upgrade of older systems
  • Alarm transmission to a security company or the fire service
  • Training for the person responsible for the system day to day
Annual inspection

How the fire alarm inspection works

Preparation

We review the fire strategy, drawings, system description and log book, and agree a time so residents and staff know the alarm may sound.

Visual inspection

We check the panel, detectors, call points and sounders: location, damage, covering and whether rooms are used as before.

Function testing

Detectors, call points, sounders and controls are tested to plan, and alarm transmission is tested all the way to the receiver.

Report

You receive a report with deviations, photos and suggested actions. If you want help with the repairs, we send you a quote.

Deviations are graded AG0 to AG3 according to FG-790. AG0 is a remark, and AG3 means that important functions fail and must be fixed immediately.

Regulations

Requirements for fire alarm systems

The building owner is responsible for making sure the fire alarm system works.

If the system was designed to older rules, such as the FG rules from 1986 or 2007 or NS 3960:2013, we inspect it against what it was built to. Operation, inspection and maintenance follow the current edition.

  • TEK17 § 11-12 – requirements for detecting and warning of fire
  • Fire Prevention Regulations § 4 and § 5 – the owner must keep documentation and ensure inspection and maintenance
  • NS 3960:2019 – design, installation, operation and inspection of fire alarm systems
  • NS-EN 54 – requirements for the system components
  • FG-790 – inspection and deviation grades
Who we work for

For housing associations, commercial and public buildings

Housing associations

Shared fire alarms in stairwells, storage rooms and garages. The board gets one contact and a report that is easy to present.

Commercial buildings and property managers

Offices, shops, warehouses and industry. We inspect several buildings to one plan and collect the reports for the whole portfolio.

Schools and public buildings

Buildings with many people and strict requirements for warning, evacuation and documentation at inspections.

Report and deviations

Everything in FirePortal

The inspector records findings on a phone in the building, even where there is no coverage. Every deviation gets its own ID, a photo, a severity and a reference to the regulations. The report is generated as a PDF as soon as the inspection is complete.

In FirePortal you see the reports and open deviations for your buildings, and the next annual inspection is scheduled automatically. If we also handle your emergency lighting, it appears in the same overview.

  • Deviations with their own ID, for example “ID: 2026-000 312”
  • Photo and location for every deviation
  • References to the standard, the building regulations and the fire prevention regulations
  • PDF report, ready for the board, the property manager or the fire inspection
  • Next annual inspection scheduled automatically

Questions and answers

Common questions about fire alarms

How often must the fire alarm system be inspected?

The system must have an annual inspection by a qualified inspector. Between inspections, the person responsible carries out regular checks and records them in the log book. We provide training and a plan for the checks.

We have many false alarms. What should we do?

False alarms almost always have a cause: the wrong detector type, dust, steam, old detectors or a change in how the room is used. We find the fault, fix it and document the change.

Can you take over a system installed by another company?

Yes. The first annual inspection gives you an up-to-date picture of the system and its documentation, and we tell you if anything is missing.

What does a fire alarm inspection cost?

The price depends on the size of the system, how many controls it has and whether several systems are inspected on the same day. Send us a request and you will receive a fixed quote.
